In 1980, while on an FFA exchange trip to Panama, Ke group worked with a Catholic school called Colegio San Benito in the mountain town of Volcán, near the Costa Rican border. The school supported itself through farming, woodworking, and coffee, and later sent us their handmade teak wood carvings to sell for fundraising. One of those efforts inspired the idea to create a 5-foot hand-carved FFA emblem as a gift for the National FFA.
